In Year 3, we have been studying about the life and work of Alberto Giacometti. Joe carried out some research about Giacometti, on the internet. This is what he discovered:
Alberto Giacometti was born on October 10, 1901 and died on January 11, 1966.
He was born in Borgonovo in Switzerland near the Italian border. He studied in Paris. He was a very famous artist - he was a surrealist sculptor.
His most famous sculptures were of people that looked stretched out; they were very thin with heads which showed no hair. Giacometti's sculptures first started as thin metal wire then he put clay over and at the end he added bronze all over them.
If he got angry or upset he would break his art work.
Giacometti died in Switzerland in 1966 of heart disease and chronic bronchitis.
